H.S.H. Princess Charlene honoured by the Italian Republic

H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco received the highest Italian honorific distinction "Order of the Star of Italy".  She was awarded the honorific distinction of "Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Star of Italy" by the President of the Italian Republic.

H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco received this decoration in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco from the hands of the Italian Ambassador to Monaco, H.E. Antonio Morabito, in a solemn ceremony held at the Italian Embassy in Monaco, on Monday 28 July 2014.

Distinguished Monegasque and Italian leading figures of which the Secretary of State, M. Michel Roger, the President of the Crown Council, M. Michel-Yves Mourou, the Archbiship of Monaco, Monsignor Bernard Barsi, the President of the Council of State, M. Philippe Narmino, the President of the National Council, M. Laurent Nouvion, Monegasque government advisors and numerous Italian residents of the Principality attended the ceremony.

Through this distinction, Italy wished to reward H.S.H. Princess Charlene's worldwide humanitarian and philanthropic action and initiatives that Her Foundation promotes for the protection of children and the values of sport. 

During the course of his speech, the Ambassador emphasized the "generosity, compassion and authenticity" that characterizes Princess Charlene, without omitting "Her simplicity and cosmopolitan elegance".  He also took the time to highlight the excellent rapport that exist between the two countries.
