F1 driver Charles Leclerc Named Ambassador for the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation

December 2018 - The brilliant Monegasque Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc was chosen by HSH Princess Charlene to join the ranks of the Ambassadors of Her Foundation.
“I am deeply touched that Charles Leclerc makes a commitment to My Foundation as new Ambassador. Young and talented sportsman, he shares the values of sport that are dear to me” said HSH Princesse Charlene.

Born October 16, 1997, Charles Leclerc distinguised himself from an early age in karting. French Champion in 2009, then winner of the Monaco Kart Cup in 2010, the CIK-FIA Academy Trophy and the Junior World Cup in 2011, he continued to shine among the world elite of the discipline until 2013.
His rapid rise continued in single-seater from 2014 onwards. Top rookie in Formula Renault in his first season, then in Formula 3 the following year, he raised the pace further in 2016 by winning the GP3 Series before dominating the 2017 season of FIA Formula 2.
Charles joined the Ferrari Driver Academy in 2016 and made his Formula 1 debut in the process. He has competed in his first F1 season in 2018 with the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team. In 2019, he will join the prestigious Scuderia Ferrari.

Charles is a perfect example of the values of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation. From an early age he showed great professionalism: hard work, dedication, commitment to excellence. His professional and human qualities mingle and merge: humility, teamwork, respect, fair play. This outstanding characteristics make him an example for children and adults. He is a perfect illustration of sport as a school of life.
The young champion said: "Apart from my activities of Formula 1 driver, I have a passion for scuba diving. When HSH Princess Charlene contacted me to become an Ambassador of Her Foundation, I immediately responded positively because I am very sensitive to the cause
defended by the Foundation. HSH Princess Charlene is also a high-performance athlete, and we share the same
values of sports. Through the Foundation which aim is to raise public awareness about learning to swim to avoid drowning, I am very happy to join this cause alongside HSH Princess Charlene. »

Very active in charity work, Charles is particularly involved in the Association Jules Bianchi #17, his friend and mentor who prematurely passed away.
