Learn to Swim & Water Safety

Maine - Maine 4-H Camp and Learning Center at Greenland Point - Summer 2019

The Maine 4-H Foundation recently completed the purchase of the Greenland Point Center Youth Conservation Camp which will become the fourth Maine 4-H Camp and Learning Center in the state.

The Greenland Point Camp will join Maine 4-H Camps and Learning Centers at Tanglewood in Lincolnville; Blueberry Cove in Tenants Harbor and Bryant Pond in Woodstock, Maine. Currently, these three Maine 4-H Camps and Learning Centers serve over 10,000 youth each summer offering canoeing, swimming, boating, kayaking, conservation, leadership, ecology, wilderness camping, hiking and survival, STEM, robotics and gardening while providing outdoor recreation opportunities. With the addition of the Greenland Point Camp and Learning Center, Maine 4-H will be able to serve previously underserved populations in some of the poorest areas of Maine, including Washington County and local Native American youth from two Passamaquoddy Reservations and one reservation in Houlton.

The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation USA is pleased to partner with Maine 4-H Foundation to help provide a safe and secure waterfront and swimming environment for the 350 to 450 youth that will be attending the newest camp. PCMF USA will fund the purchase of proper equipment for the camp’s Red Cross certified water safety instructors and lifeguards as well as lifejackets for the canoes and kayaks so that campers can enjoy swimming, canoeing and other water activities safely.
