South Africa Monaco Rugby Exchange - U16 Team departure - 21.07.2015

As part of the « Sport and Education » programme that the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation operates, the Monaco U16 rugby team will go to South Africa as an extension of the “South Africa – Monaco Rugby Exchange” from the 22nd to the 28th July 2015.

The young athletes gathered at the Louis II Stadium to celebrate their departure on Tuesday 21st July, proud to highlight the values of rugby:  team spirit, respect, sharing and fair play.

The first part of this programme took place in April of this year.  Underprivileged South African children were invited to participate in the Saint Devote Rugby Tournament thanks to a partnership between the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, the Monegasque Rugby Federation and the South African Rugby Legends Association (SARLA).

Numerous cultural exchanges were planned in both countries to help the children better understand the different lifestyles.
The Monegasque team will have the great honour of playing against a South African team at Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg, just prior to the South Africa-New Zealand national game on 25th July.

The Team is accompanied by directors from the Monegasque Rugby Federation – notably Mr. Cedric Nardi and Mr. Thierry Danthez, respectively President and Vice President – as well as Mr. Gareth Wittstock.

The « Sport and Education » programme, put in place by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, uses sporting activities as tools to contribute to the well-being and development of children.
