Water Safety

Greece - June - August 2014

In Greece, the “Learn to Swim” programme is operated by the Hellenic Center for Disease Control (HCDC) with the collaboration and supervision of the Ministry of Defence.

Practical and theoretical “Water Safety” courses were organised in camps for the children of military personnel during the summer holidays.

The Foundation purchased equipment such as lifejackets, mannequins and ropes to assist in giving these lessons.  The instruction was provided by the HCDC.

Four thousand children – between 5 and 17 years old – took part in these operations in Athens and Korinthos throughout the summer 2014.
