Water Safety

Water Safety day - Porto-Vecchio - 23.06.2015

T.S.H. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene participated in a “Water Safety” event organised by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and the CEFSSA 40 (The Teaching and Training Centre for First Aid and Aquatic Rescue) in collaboration with the Porto-Vecchio Town Hall on 23rd June.
 
The event took place on Palombaggia Beach where 90 students aged 7 to 11 took part in planned workshops including basic first aid and raising awareness to the risks associated with the sea, discovery of the marine environment as well as aquatic rescue by using rescue tubes.
 
Running the workshops and supervising the children were Pierre Frolla, four time free diving world record holder and ambassador to the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, Stéphanie Barneix, Vice President of CEFSSA 40 (lifesaving and paddle board world champion), Alexandra Luz and Julien Lalanne (both lifesaving world champions), Walter Geyer (2014 Hawaii Ironman and long distance World Triathlete Championship participant), Carlos Alonso (European rescue board champion) and Anthony Mazzer (European junior lifesaving champion).  The professional surfer Nic Lamb was also present.
 
H.S.H. Princess Charlene also offered 2 rescue boards, specially designed for Her Foundation, to the Porto-Vecchio Société Nationale de Sauvetage en Mer (SNSM - National Society of Sea Rescue) as well as to the Calvi-Balagne SNSM.
 
The day-long event was organised in collaboration with the French Department of Education, The Porto-Vecchio Red Cross, the Porto-Vecchio SNSM and the Calvi-Balagne SNSM.
